CHINA TELECOM SELECTS MIRAPOINT FOR THE DELIVERY OF ADVANCED MESSAGING SERVICES TO ONE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - November 13, 2001 - Mirapoint, a leading provider of Internet messaging infrastructure products, today announced that China Telecom, one of China's largest telecommunications service providers, has chosen Mirapoint's messaging products to offer e-mail services to one million users in the province of Guangxi. China Telecom replaced its current system with Mirapoint's products in order to scale its messaging infrastructure to a level that can handle future expansion of new services such as unified communications and wireless messaging. "China Telecom's move to expand its services to more than one million subscribers in Guangxi is a strong indication of the booming telecommunications market in China," said Satish Ramachandran, chairman and CEO, Mirapoint, Inc. "This tremendous growth will require service providers to quickly add new services such as messaging to address the demands of a growing subscriber base." China Telecom chose Mirapoint's flexible and modular messaging products because they allow customers to scale their messaging infrastructure as needed, and to easily add new services. In addition, Mirapoint is able to deliver high performance, the lowest total cost of ownership, and easy migration from legacy e-mail systems.

China Telecom has deployed Mirapoint's full suite of Internet messaging products. CommVerge Solutions Limited, a privately-held leading integrator of technology and business solutions for Asian telecommunications service providers, handled the installation of Mirapoint's products. China Telecom's new e-mail system includes the Mirapoint Internet Message Server, which provides the scalability and reliability necessary to handle the challenges of the largest messaging environments; the Mirapoint Internet Directory, the industry's first Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) v3-compliant directory appliance; the Mirapoint Message Director, an e-mail firewall that processes inbound and outbound mail traffic for SPAM and virus control, policy enforcement and user access; and Webmail Direct™, which provides fast and secure Web-based access to Internet messages. The new system will also support multiple, virtual domains, enabling China Telecom's business customers in Guangxi to have mailboxes under their own registered domain names.
