Mirapoint and NetMoves Deliver First Integrated IP-Based E-Mail/Fax Service Offering Unified E-Mail and Internet Fax Messaging in One Simple Solution

Cupertino, California and Edison, New Jersey - September 21, 1999 - Mirapoint, Inc., a pioneering developer of standards-based IP messaging solutions, and NetMoves Corporation (NasdaqNM:NTMV), the global leader in Internet Document Delivery (IDD), today announced their collaboration to deliver the industry's first integrated IP-based e-mail/fax service offering. As a result of this partnership, Mirapoint customers will have seamless access to NetMoves' inbound and outbound Internet fax services, and NetMoves' customers will be able to obtain outsourced Internet e-mail services based on Mirapoint's Internet messaging appliance.

The combination of NetMoves' market-leading Internet fax services with Mirapoint's high-performance IP messaging appliance, gives customers access to a single electronic messaging system to support all of their IP-based e-mail and fax needs. This simplifies administration and improves productivity, and completely eliminates the need for fax servers.

Over the past few years, e-mail has matured from a simple personal messaging tool to a business-critical tool. Electronic Mail & Messaging Systems (EMMS) reports there were 382 million electronic mailboxes as of March 21, 1999, up significantly from 263 million as of September 30, 1998. According to Gartner Group, approximately 300 billion electronic mail messages were sent in 1998. The rapid growth in e-mail volume and its increasing complexity, has created a huge administrative burden and expense for ISPs and corporate customers. IDC estimates that the number of hosted, or outsourced e-mail mailboxes in the U.S. alone will rise from approximately 6 million in 1999 to 57 million in 2005. -MORE-

Mirapoint servers will be deployed within NetMoves' globally deployed managed messaging network, which currently serves over 129,000 business customers worldwide. Centrally managed on a 24/7 basis, the network already moves and manages hundreds of thousands of email and fax messages a day in support of customers' mission critical applications.

Starting in November, business customers will have the choice of having a dedicated e-mail appliance located at their own site, or fully outsourcing their IP-based e-mail and fax services using the NetMoves' network. NetMoves will retain responsibility for fully managing the messaging delivery, while the customer manages mail administration tasks, such as adding and deleting users.

Mirapoint and NetMoves will also work together to provide the same enhanced features for pure IP-based e-mail, such as "confirmed delivery," that NetMoves' Internet fax services offer today.

"Mirapoint servers are first and foremost IP-based messaging appliances designed to provide unified messaging services for e-mail, fax, voice, data, and video," said Cheena Srinivasan, vice president of marketing at Mirapoint. "This partnership with NetMoves demonstrates that Mirapoint is moving aggressively to deliver unified messaging solutions with its family of IP messaging appliances. We're gratified to be collaborating with NetMoves to add Fax Over IP messaging to our server appliances."

"We believe that IP-based e-mail will be a vitally important offering in our expanding portfolio of managed messaging services," said Bill Fallon, NetMoves' Vice President of Marketing. "Together with Mirapoint, we offer the first integrated IP-based e-mail/fax solution that's easily deployed, highly reliable, scalable, and suited to a wide range of customers."
