MIRAPOINT AND VERISIGN PARTNER TO DELIVER SECURE, SCALABLE INTERNET MESSAGING
Mirapoint Becomes the First Internet Messaging Solutions Provider To Integrate VeriSign's Web Site Digital Certificates

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, September 19, 2000 – VeriSign, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRSN), the leading provider of Internet trust services, and Mirapoint Inc., a leading provider of Internet messaging infrastructure products, today announced an agreement to integrate VeriSign's web site digital certificate services into the next generation of Mirapoint's Internet messaging products, enabling Mirapoint to provide its customers with an easy, one-step process to establish secure communications between their e-mail clients and servers.

Mirapoint's Internet Message Routers, Servers and Switches handle large volumes of multiple-media message traffic with high performance and reliability while keeping management costs exceptionally low. VeriSign's web site digital certificates authenticate Intranet, extranet, and e-commerce web sites, enabling encrypted communications between browsers and servers across the Internet. The integration of VeriSign's services into Mirapoint's products will allow Mirapoint's customers to seamlessly and automatically issue and manage Global 128-bit digital certificates from VeriSign's Trust Network, thus providing SSL-encrypted communications over simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP).
