MIRAPOINT TARGETS SENDMAIL & SUN/iPLANET CUSTOMERS;
ANNOUNCES ‘ZERO-DOWNTIME MIGRATION’
Migration offer simplifies move to reliable, secure & easy-to-manage
Mirapoint messaging systems
SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA– (August 5, 2003) – Mirapoint,
a leader in solutions for message networks, today announced the
industry’s first ‘zero-downtime’ approach to email
migration as part of a new competitive upgrade program. The new
program is geared toward Sendmail and Sun/iPlanet customers looking
to migrate from old-world messaging products to more reliable, secure,
and easy-to-manage Mirapoint messaging systems. Available to qualified
prospects that contact Mirapoint before September 30, 2003, the
program provides guaranteed ‘zero-downtime migration’
for organizations that trade-up to Mirapoint systems.
With many of the old-world messaging solutions, like Sendmail and
Sun/iPlanet, customers have no easy way to upgrade, migrate to new
releases or incorporate new features without running the risk of
email service outages or potentially lost messages.
As an example, many service providers and educational institutions
need to upgrade their message networks from old-world products,
so they can deploy advanced web, wireless and related applications,
such as group calendar or address book services. In addition, many
of these customers are under increasing pressure to address security
threats, including spam, virus and hacker attacks.
Mirapoint’s Professional Services (PS) team has developed
a unique approach to migration that allows customers to safely switch
to Mirapoint’s systems, while ensuring zero-downtime for the
duration of the migration. Already numerous global service provider
and education customers have employed Mirapoint’s PS team
for migration services, including Baker College, James Madison University,
Oakland University, China Telecom, Bezeq, University of Georgia
and Temple University. An industry first, Mirapoint’s fail-safe
approach to zero-downtime migrations also includes rigorous quality
assurance measures and detailed reconciliation reports during all
stages of the migration.
"Mirapoint's Professional Services team was instrumental in
providing UGA's 45,000 students, faculty and staff with a zero-downtime
migration from Sendmail to the Mirapoint solution, so users could
continue to login and access their mailboxes while the migration
was going on," said Greg Ashley, Executive Director of UGA's
Enterprise Information Technology Services. "The PS team had
the messaging expertise to make our migration very painless for
our users, as well as provided valuable assistance integrating with
our existing directory services solution and doing custom branding
of the Mirapoint webmail interfaces."
By switching to Mirapoint, customers benefit from Mirapoint’s
optimized messaging solutions that address the complete Internet
messaging lifecycle – to route, store, access and manage messaging
information – plus features for web and wireless access, group
calendaring and address book services, plus spam, virus and hacker
protection. In comparison to the Sendmail and Sun/iPlanet products,
the Mirapoint solution provides all of this functionality in an
integrated system and with a simplified management model proven
to have a lower long-term Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) than competitive
solutions.
Proven Migration Track Record
Mirapoint has developed an expertise in helping customers migrate
from old-world products to Mirapoint's integrated systems. Over
the last two years, Mirapoint PS has migrated more than 50 customers
worldwide and nearly five million mailboxes from alternative messaging
products without causing any data loss or service downtime.
