New Enterprise Suite Simplifies Adoption of Mirapoint
Appliances
Mirapoint Approach Delivers Industry’s Proven Lowest Total
Cost of Ownership for Messaging; Enables Large Enterprises To Save
Millions Per Year
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 27th 2004 – Mirapoint® today
announced its new Enterprise Suite, which provides enterprise customers
with a complete, integrated email solution that combines carrier–grade
reliable desktop, web and wireless email, group calendaring and
address book services with powerful virus and spam protection. To
address the needs of collaborative enterprises, Mirapoint also announced
availability of its new SynQ technology that supports native Outlook
client functionality and mobile access from PDA devices.
To remove the complexity of working with multiple vendors and integrating
heterogeneous hardware and software components, the Enterprise Suite
includes all application and OS software, server hardware, and storage
required for a complete, secure email solution and is priced on
a simple, all–inclusive per–user basis. The complete
Enterprise Suite employs Mirapoint’s purpose–built,
performance–tuned Message Server appliances, which are independently
proven to have a dramatically lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
compared with software–only alternatives such as Lotus Notes,
Exchange, Oracle and Sun.
“Email is the most important application on enterprise networks
today, yet for many customers it has become difficult and costly
to manage, prone to outages, and vulnerable to security threats,”
said Barry Ariko, chairman and chief executive officer at Mirapoint.
“Our compelling Enterprise Suite gives customers a more manageable,
secure and reliable approach with purpose–built Mirapoint
appliances. Not only can enterprises save millions with Mirapoint,
CIOs and IT managers can benefit from the piece of mind provided
by Mirapoint’s complete, integrated solutions and single vendor
support.”
"Mollie Stone's Markets previously used hosted email, but
needed a more secure and reliable solution as email–based
communications and collaboration became more important to our business,"
said Karen Barnes, chief operating officer of Mollie Stone's Markets.
"By selecting Mirapoint's enterprise–class solutions,
we will benefit from the ease–of–management and low
cost of ownership only available with Mirapoint's appliance–based
solutions. We will also get a complete, end–to–end email
and security solution that includes key features for desktop email,
group calendaring, Outlook synchronization, as well as integrated
spam and virus filtering that are critical to our business."
A growing number of enterprises representing millions of deployed
mailboxes already depend on Mirapoint appliances, including Volkswagen,
ST Microelectronics, Illinois Tool Works, Ford, Alex Lee, Mollie
Stone’s Markets, among others.
Lowest Total Cost of Ownership
Cost of ownership is one of the most compelling business drivers
for enterprises to adopt Mirapoint’s new Enterprise Suite,
as highlighted by a recent TCO study from The Radicati Group. For
a large enterprise moving only a percentage of users, like its deskless
workforce, to Mirapoint appliances OR an enterprise switching entirely
to Mirapoint, the annual TCO savings could be from a few hundred
thousand dollars to millions each year!
"Like many enterprises, Alex Lee's previous software–based
email solution had become unreliable, difficult to manage, and costly
to operate," said Randy Miller, director of I/S Operations
and Telecommunications at Alex Lee. "By switching to Mirapoint's
purpose–built Message Server appliances, Alex Lee has been
able to boost email service reliability and performance, as well
as benefit from significant savings by lowering its internal messaging
cost of ownership."
The Mirapoint Message Server appliance provides roughly a 3:1 cost
advantage over leading enterprise email products, like Exchange
and Notes, and a significant savings compared to other software–based
solutions.
“Email far eclipses the office phone as the primary means
of business communications,” said Dr. Sara Radicati, president
and CEO of the Radicati Group. “When we evaluated the acquisition,
maintenance, upgrade, administrative, storage, downtime, and training
costs of Mirapoint appliances, we found that enterprises could reap
substantial savings by migrating either certain user segments, or
the entire organization, to these purpose–built ‘all–in–one’
email appliances. Moreover, customers that had selected Mirapoint
were highly satisfied with their decision, especially with regard
to simplified ongoing administration.”
Secure, High Performance Message Appliance
Users in today’s enterprises often have different types of
message requirements. The knowledge workers that need advanced collaboration
features generally represent only a small percentage of the overall
user population. Most traditional users rely on standard functionality,
such as secure email, group calendaring, shared folders, and address
books. Certain vertical enterprises, such as retail or manufacturing,
might also have a growing deskless workforce, who can benefit from
flexible email communications from a web kiosk using Webmail or
from mobile devices, like PDAs or phones. With proven 99.999% uptime,
the Message Server is designed to support any enterprise delivering
email to a broad base of users that demand anytime, anywhere access
to carrier–grade messaging services.
The Mirapoint Message Server is the industry’s only dedicated
appliance that integrates email routing, storage, access, and management
with Mirapoint’s comprehensive, multi–layered Full–Spectrum™
email security technology. To address enterprise users’ advanced
requirements and minimize re–training, Mirapoint’s Outlook
SynQ automatically synchronizes email, group calendar, address book,
and task list functions with Mirapoint’s Message Server, while
Mirapoint’s PDA SynQ extends synchronization to mobile devices.
The pre–integrated Full–Spectrum technology protects
against hackers, spam, and virus threats, as well as provides advanced
management of message traffic through policy enforcement tools,
content filters and detailed reporting.
"With our previous software–based email server, we found
a significant cost over time was the ongoing administration and
management required to keep the solution up–to–date
and performing reliably," said Rick Nicholas, Manager of Information
Technology at Humane Society Silicon Valley. "As a non–profit
organization with a very tight budget, we standardized on the Mirapoint
Message Server because it was the only solution that provides the
right combination of proven low cost of ownership, simplicity of
management, and key enterprise capabilities like feature–rich
web–based email and calendaring plus integrated security protection."
Mirapoint Migration Ensures Message Availability
The Enterprise Suite is available with special migration services
from Mirapoint’s global Professional Services organization
geared at enterprises that want to migrate an existing user base
to the Mirapoint Message Server. The Mirapoint staff has extensive
experience handling migrations from both freeware and commercial–grade
products and to–date has successfully migrated billions of
messages, including mailbox, folder, calendar and address book data.
Attractive Bundled Pricing
To further ease enterprises switch to Mirapoint, the Enterprise
Suite is available immediately and includes a single price per–user
for the total, integrated solution. For example, the Enterprise
Suite for an enterprise with 5000 employees costs $100 per–user
in first–year costs and includes all the appliance hardware,
software and storage required to support a full–featured email
solution, including: POP and IMAP email, personal and group calendaring,
address book and task lists, Webmail and wireless access, Outlook
& PDA SynQ, integrated anti–virus and spam protection,
and more. For more information or to purchase the Enterprise Suite,
