Mirapoint Expands Management Team
Company Names Two New Vice Presidents
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 24, 2002 - Mirapoint, a leading provider
of Internet messaging solutions, has announced the appointment of
Fred Ong as vice president of finance and operations and Nigel Brooke
as vice president for its Europe Middle-East Africa (EMEA) operations,
located in the United Kingdom. Brooke joins the company from the
U.K. division of Critical Path.
Ong was promoted from the position of Mirapoint's corporate controller,
a position he held since 1999. In his new position, Ong is responsible
for overseeing both the financial and manufacturing operations of
the company.
"Fred has done exemplary work at our company as our controller,"
said Satish Ramachandran, CEO of Mirapoint. "But it was clear
that Fred had additional skills that we believed would be of significant
help in making Mirapoint one of the premier messaging-solution vendors
in the industry. So far, Fred has exceeded all of our expectations
and we look forward to his continued contributions."
Prior to joining Mirapoint, Ong was director of finance for S-Chip
Corporation (acquired by Standard Microsystems Corp.), in Santa
Clara, Calif., a manufacturer of high-speed controller chips and
a company he co-founded. He was also corporate controller of ZeitNet
Inc. (acquired by Cabletron Systems Inc.), a manufacturer of networking
switches and adapter cards.
Ong graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in
1991 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and is
a Certified Public Accountant.
New Vice President of EMEA Also Named
Mirapoint has recruited Brooke to increase its presence in EMEA,
particularly in response to its growing profile in the European
mobile messaging infrastructure market. With over 10 years experience
in the networking and messaging industry, Brooke will drive sales
in EMEA and increase Mirapoint's profile with the region's major
fixed line and mobile service providers. Brooke will also lead Mirapoint's
new aggressive competitive upgrade program, which allows companies
to boost the messaging capabilities of under-performing or unsupported
'piecemeal' messaging systems.
Prior to joining Mirapoint, Brooke held the position of director
EMEA of telco operations at Critical Path. He was previously sales
manager at Critical Path in UK and secured major accounts such as
BT and O².
Ramachandran added, "We're very pleased to have Nigel join
us - he comes with a great deal of sales and management experience
and will be a major contributor to our growing EMEA business operations.
Nigel has an excellent knowledge of the European messaging market
and I am confident that he will help Mirapoint continue to win key
accounts and achieve year-over-year revenue growth."
