Waseda University Launches Mirapoint Mail-Hosting Service

TOKYO, July 24, 2002 - Mirapoint announced that Waseda University has launched a mail-hosting service based on Mirapoint's products for its Science and Engineering Department. The university selected the Mirapoint Message Server to offer its new e-mail service to more than 300 professors. The professors also use Mirapoint's Webmail Direct feature to check messages remotely.

Mirapoint's Message Server features a "Delegated Domain Function" that allows Waseda to manage all of its e-mail domains in a single system. Without this critical feature, Waseda would be forced to use a separate server for each domain, which would be considerably more expensive and complex to manage.

Waseda selected Mirapoint's server for its virtual domain function, Lightweight Directory Application Protocol (LDAP) support, easy deployment and management, as well as anti-virus and anti-spam functions.

"Mirapoint Message Server meets all of our requirements, and it was very easy to deploy," said Mr. Takahashi of the Media System Support Section, School of Science and Engineering, Waseda University. "Updating the operating system is extremely easy and requires very little downtime-typically less than five minutes.
