MIRAPOINT NAMES WARREN A. SMITH NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERING
Mirapoint Also Appoints Greg Frazier to Vice President of Sales in the Americas

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 4, 2004 –Mirapoint, an industry-leading provider of email and security appliances,today announced the appointment of experienced industry veteran Warren A. Smith as the company’s new vice president of engineering. Formerly the vice president of engineering at IP Dynamics, Smith will leverage his more than 25 years of experience in product management, engineering and IT management to serve in a similar role at Mirapoint. In his new role, Smith will manage and lead the engineering staff to continue innovating Mirapoint’s industry-leading email server and security appliances.

At IP Dynamics, Smith was responsible for product development and management of the VCN Software Suite, a security software product. Prior to IP Dynamics, Smith was vice president of engineering at SonicWALL and drove both software and hardware development for the Internet Security Appliances products, which led to the company’s successful IPO. During his tenure, Smith grew the company’s engineering group from a staff of seven to more than 120 engineers in three separate locations, as well as managing the company’s overall IT organization. From 1987-1992, Smith was director of distributed computing technology at Sun Microsystems, Inc., where he built and managed an engineering team that was responsible for the NFS, RPC & NIS portions of SunOS and later, Solaris. He holds a B.S. in computer science from California State University, Sacramento.

Mirapoint also announced today the internal promotion of Greg Frazier to the role of vice president of sales for the Americas. Formerly the director of North American sales at Mirapoint, Frazier has previously held sales management positions at Juniper Networks, Cisco System, Inc., and Engineering Animation, Inc. Frazier will focus on maintaining existing customer relationships and developing new customers in markets throughout the United States and Canada, as well as Central and South America. In his new role at Mirapoint, Frazier will report directly to Bill Messer, senior vice president of worldwide sales and customer services.
