Mirapoint Achieves Profitability As Demand Rises For Message
Networks
Mirapoint Signs 600th Customer; Experiences Double-Digit Quarterly
Revenue Growth For Past Four Quarters
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 17, 2003 -- Mirapoint, a leader in solutions
for message networks, today announced several major milestones that
attest to widespread customer acceptance of Mirapoint solutions
by service provider, enterprise, education and government customers.
Customers use Mirapoint solutions to build message networks that
intelligently route, store, access and manage Internet messages,
including email. Founded in 1997, Mirapoint (http://www.mirapoint.com)
has seen demand for its Message Server and Message Director products
increase as businesses seek secure, service-oriented and easy-to-manage
solutions for message networks.
The major achievements by Mirapoint over the last quarter
include:
- 600th customer signed: With the addition of
Illinois Tool Works Inc. (NYSE: ITW), RCN (Nasdaq: RCNC), Sonic
Drive-In (Nasdaq: SONC), Ford (NYSE: F), One.Tel, James Madison
University and Temple University, Mirapoint reached the 600th
customer milestone. Companies across multiple industry segments
have adopted Mirapoint's products as a means to dramatically simplify
management, protect against spam, virus and hacker attacks, and
provide enhanced messaging capabilities for desktop PC, web and
wireless clients.
- Profitability: Mirapoint reached profitability
in the fourth quarter of 2002, on the heels of double-digit quarterly
revenue growth for the past four quarters. Furthermore, the company
has experienced consistent year-over-year revenue growth since
its inception. During a time when other technology companies have
struggled to maintain business viability, Mirapoint has continued
its successful expansion while meeting - and exceeding - sales
and market share goals.
"Mirapoint has built a solid foundation of customers by focusing
on three core tenets: service delivery, security and simplicity,"
said Satish Ramachandran, chairman and chief executive officer of
Mirapoint. "Given tight IT budgets, increased concerns around
email security and pressures to make past IT investments deliver
on promised ROI, companies of all sizes are turning to Mirapoint
to make their message networks smarter."
With email increasingly a mission-critical application for businesses,
message networks are becoming the backbone for all communications.
Mirapoint provides turnkey solutions for realizing the power of
message networks. With tightly integrated hardware and software
optimized for message routing, storage, access and management, Mirapoint
is the only vendor that offers true simplicity-of-operation combined
with carrier-class reliability and comprehensive security.
"More than ever, organizations are keeping a close watch over
messaging management costs and security threats," said Robert
Mahowald, research manager with IDC. "Mirapoint's approach,
with its integrated hardware plus software systems purpose-built
for messaging services, addresses key pain points including the
need for greater efficiency, security, and consolidation to create
a single structured message network that works across a variety
of legacy operating environments."
A key element of Mirapoint's product family is the Mirapoint Message
Server, which offers a complete solution for reliable and secure
message storage, routing, access and management, as well as advanced
capabilities for calendaring and address book services. Additionally,
the Mirapoint Message Director supports high-performance message
processing and filtering to secure message networks against spam,
virus and hacker attacks, as well as enforce policies and route
messages. To complement Mirapoint deployments, the Mirapoint Directory
Server provides centralized user management, provisioning and authentication
capabilities. All of Mirapoint's products can seamlessly interoperate
with existing IT investments, including Microsoft Exchange.
Mirapoint's products are currently the highest-performing messaging
products benchmarked by the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation
(www.SPEC.org). Furthermore, Mirapoint
is the only company that can deliver and validate 99.999% availability
for messaging services.
"When we were considering our messaging options, we were looking
to build a scalable message network that would easily integrate
with our legacy systems and give us the ability to predict ongoing
management costs," said Gary Anton, Vice President of Strategic
Sourcing at Illinois Tool Works Inc. "On all levels, Mirapoint
delivered. We've been able to manage our costs effectively, while
simultaneously offering new messaging options to our employees around
the world. Mirapoint has saved us significant time and money within
the IT department - almost a 3:1 savings versus competitive solutions
- while also providing a platform that can handle our constantly-evolving
messaging needs."
"Mirapoint's integrated approach to message networks allows
us to give our customers a secure, reliable and service-oriented
platform," said Richard Rioboli, Vice President of Product
Management at RCN. "With Mirapoint products, RCN now has the
infrastructure in place to assure our Internet customers have the
right email solution."
